We all have them, we all need to bind and release them! We keep them caged, thinking they will never do any harm but they whisper in our ear and rage comes.

It begins with a scratching, a clawing from within and suddenly it’s just beneath the skin. A monster which feeds off of nightmares and fears. Down inside the monster sleeps, waiting for the perfect chance to make its appearance. Bold in its steps it creeps up, pushing through awaiting the moment you self-destruct.
Is your monster under lock and key? Do you keep it caged, fearing the rise of its anger? It’s hiding in the dark and wants your very soul. Sometimes it just makes you want to scream.

The radical thing is that most people don’t admit to having these monsters. These monsters are called demons. And they possess us because they have no physical body of their own and they want to exist in our world, controlling and manipulating us.

DEMONS DOWN DEEP
Most don’t know we have so many demons that roam the earth that if they actually saw them, it would cause heart attacks. The stark realization is that this is true. Not only do they surround us but we are infested with them internally. Some consider this kind of manipulation just a combinations of sins we carry and this may be true for some but many of us carry demons inside. We must use prayer to ask Jesus Christ to release them, and to bind and cast them out in the name of Jesus Christ. Seriously many people think this is a view of a fanatical Christian but the supernatural forces are so strong we must take these views. Many of us carry multiple demons, and this accounts for our many strange behaviors.

Some believe because we are believers then there is no way we can have demonic oppression, but this is not true. As a mater of fact, we are prime targets!

When you ask Jesus to come in your heart, you are born again. You get saved. Tell me something. You are a body, soul and spirit. Which part of you is saved? It’s the spirit, because you are still having trouble with your mind. You are still having trouble with your body? Your soul is made up of your mind, will and emotions.
There are demons of every type, some are because you haven’t forgiven someone, some are making you sick-physically sick. Others are oppressing you because you may have been interested in the occult such as Ouija boards, tarot, witchcraft, mediums, psychics, horoscopes, contacting the dead etc.

What some may not understand is that our family can cast shadows upon our lives by the experiences they had. Generational curses do apply and can remain active until you bind and cast them out of your lives. Maybe you were abused in some way and this has a hold on your life. Not only can GOD release those holds and emotional barriers but demons can follow you because of the emotions held within us.

GIANT WARRIOR ANGELS
There is no doubt that we each have our own angel protecting us, but we can call forth GOD’s warrior angels to help guide us and protect us. There are various deliverance pastors out there but Win Worley was one of the best.


Now, we come to the binding and loosing thing. If you go to the 16th chapter of Matthew, in verse 19, you’ll find out this binding and loosing is the keys to the kingdom. You hear a lot of talk
about the keys to the kingdom. The keys of the kingdom are given to believers who take their authority to bind and loose.
Then we some to (Matthew) 18:18. All of a sudden verse 18 and Matthew 18 begin to take on a new significance. “Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.” Basically all that verse means is whatever you bind on earth, you also bind in heaven– in the Name of Jesus”. You can loose the angels of GOD to help you too, hence the binding and loosing. So bind the demons and loose GOD’s angels. This uses incredible amounts of force in the spiritual world.

A DEMONS STORY
Whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven. He said, “the Illuminati has been so messed up, the principalities that guide all the wicked movements of the new age movement, the economic block, the political and the financial maneuverings and meanderings are guided by principalities and powers who work through thrones, dominions and all these other various step-downs. They issue orders and power going down through the channels to arrange the disaster that gets down here. The bottom line is the human dupes like Rockefeller and the others who are highly demonized who are running around doing their bidding. They are so demonized they don’t even know what they’re doing, but they’re following the dictates of the master plan of Satan. But this demon said, “things are in so much confusion because those stupid simple minded idiots across the country. They pick up that blankety blank warfare thing. Every morning, hundreds of them! They pick it up, here they go, ‘now Lord, let me see…we bind in Jesus’ Name, we send legions into the principalities and powers,’ and they go right down the stupid list and here comes legion after legion of angels with chains coming and binding.” And he said, “about the time they get one flight, here they come from another direction with some more idiots busy, and they’re just sending them from everywhere. The angels of God are coming, and they’re throwing everything into confusion.” He said, “they bind them, they gag them, they put sacks on their heads.” He said, “It’s disgusting!” He said, “Not only that, they cut down all the communication lines and the runners, you might say the spiritual runners that take messages down to the earth, can’t get through, they’re blocked and hamstrung and thrown down and hindered, and the principalities and powers are busy trying to fight off these hordes of angels that come from those idiots. And it’s all your fault. You and those idiots that are teaching this, you’ve got to stop it.”

ARMOR OF GOD–EPHESIANS 6:
¹¹Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
¹²For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The City Under The Sea

“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitors of the earth and of the sea! For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time,” (Revelation 12:12).

INTRODUCTION TO SEA SPIRITS
I know that many will not believe this testimony concerning the ‘City Under the Sea’. They, in fact, will want to believe that it is just a fairy tale. They will try comparing it to something like the stories of “The Little Mermaid” or “The Wizard of Oz.” Believe me, the ‘City Under the Sea’ does exist, spiritually. I know, because I personally spent twelve years under the sea and know that it’s a real place. This is my testimony of residing with the demon gods under the sea.

TRANSFORMATION
Finally, the time came that my father took me to the sea. Seagulls were swirling across the gentle waves. The setting sun was a hazy circle behind the gray clouds dipping beyond the horizon. The skyline was marked by the shading between the gray-blue of the sea and the blue-gray of the sky. Suddenly, the sun sank out of sight. The moonlit night darkened, I felt the restless splendor of the sea. I sensed hundreds of eyes, that might or might not have been human, silently watching from the waves.
Finding a rock half in and half out of the water, we climbed upon it to rest. For a moment, I watched the little creatures of the deep as they leaped free of the pull of the tide. Then, in the distance, I saw a form that rose from the crest of the waves. Sea foam crowning his green-dark hair, his hands were raised above his head. He seemed to stand for a moment on his tail. In one instant, with a great splash, he was gone… gone back into the depths of the sea.
“Wow! Did you see him father?”
“Yes Vagalas,” replied my father. “He’s called a merfolk and there are mermaids too. They are scattered throughout seas around the world. Most people that have seen them believe that they are just imaginings, but if you have supernatural ‘eyes to see’, they are actually spirits in one of their many forms. This is the beginning of a great adventure. Here you will meet the “spirits of the sea.” Then my father gave me one of his powerful potions. His eyes shimmered like small sea lights, then turned glassy as the potions began to take effect. I began to feel airy. This form of entrance into a spiritual world is enhanced through drugs or potions, especially the hallucinogenic kind. These drugs are so effective in transporting a person into the spirit world that they are highly sought after by witches and wizards, worldwide.

On the spur of the moment, my father blasted forth with a strong whistle sound and instantly two very powerful demons appeared. All of a sudden, I felt my spirit releasing itself out of my body. One of the demons entered into my body and took control of it to keep my body alive while my spirit was not there. I felt as free as a bird. My father’s spiritual body was moving to take my hand. I looked back to see our bodies, sitting on the rock, as we started walking toward the sea. Our bodies appeared to be alive! It was eye-deceiving, as the bodies were moving and gesturing to each other against the dusk of the night, as demonic spirits occupied each body.

Although the night air was still, the endless tidal waves crashed against the shoreline. When we came to the edge of the sea, my father simply tapped the sea with his foot. To my utter amazement, instantly the sea divided into a dry pathway. I could see the fishes and sea creatures on both sides of the raised water. They were swimming and churning by the sides of the raised water. It looked like mirrored walls as we entered the water. It was a strange sight. He took me by the hand and we began walking down through the robes of mist into the sea. It was very supernatural, yet to me it felt natural.

The Bible includes a nether-world in these prophetical words: “There also God highly exalted him (Christ) and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth…. ” (Philippians 19:10). And the Word of God speaks of the “sea as a place that gives up the dead which were in it …” (Revelation 20:13).

Little did I know at this time that I was beginning to go through a great spiritual shift that was going to bring about the capture of my soul by Satan. I was entering the hadean world of Satan and his demons. These are mysterious experiences that very few ever return to talk about. The cresting currents continued to move apart as we walked descending down to the bottommost part of the sea. I stopped and picked up one of the beautiful shells. Putting the shell against my ear, I could hear the beating heart of the sea. All at once, there were flickering lights and moving shadows. They darted behind a roughened, mountainous hill that was covered with seaweed.

A group of large living things was swirling around. These beings were somewhat larger than men. Their flippers could never be mistaken for arms. “Are they sea monsters,” I asked?
“No son,” he answered, “just a group of playful whales”.

I turned to look back to see the water roaring and crashing together. The sea seemed to be taking it last breath of fresh air as it thundered shut behind us. I saw a pale, white light unsteadily shining. I felt the dry sand sticking under my feet. My father held my hand tightly. “We are almost there.” He had a devilish look on his face. A gnarly, dark figure sat upon a coral bed. He did not look at us or make a move as we passed by.

SEA MONSTERS
The Bible show these demons are great mystifying beings that live under the sea. Look at how the Bible describes Leviathan, King of the Sea. “In that day the Lord will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, with His fierce and great and mighty sword, even Leviathan the twisted serpent; and He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea,” (Isaiah 27:1).

The word ‘dragon’ is the common Hebrew Word for any large sea serpent. The word refers to Leviathan in Isaiah 27:1, and to Rahab as Egypt, in Isaiah 51:9.

The word ‘dragon’ occurs fourteen times in the Old Testament and is translated as “sea monster”, “serpent”, or “dragon”. It refers to any large sea or marine creature that is monstrous or hideous – good or bad – including the “sea monsters” that God created in Genesis 1:21. (The smaller creatures of the sea are called “living creatures” and “fish” as in Genesis 1:21. The Bible says, “There is the sea, great and broad, in which are swarms without number, animals both small and great and Leviathan, thou hast formed to sport in it,” (Psalms 104:25-26).

See also Job 3-8. “In the last days the Lord will destroy Leviathan who lives in the sea,” Isaiah 27:1, “in that day” refers to end times. Also, read 17:21; 27:2-13.

As a matter of fact, there are many mysteries in the sea. The sea also serves many purposes.

The Bible says that sea monsters are real! There are spiritual entities under the sea who shift-shape (change) into many different forms and physical appearances of monsters… grotesque mutations that look like prehistoric creatures!

One proof-text is found in the book of Revelation: there is a vision of the dragon, the beast and the false prophet, and from each of their mouths there comes, “foul spirits like frogs, for they are demonic spirits, performing signs…. ” (Revelation 16:13). Then, we discover that the other powerful agency of evil in Revelation, ‘Babylon’, is under the same influence. We see that this symbol of affluence, “Has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt of every foul spirit…” (Revelation 18:2).

In the search for wisdom (Job 28), the question is asked “Where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? The deep says, ‘it is not in me,’ And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’ Abaddon and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a report of it.’ God understands its way [wisdom]; And He knows its place. For He looks to the ends of the earth, And sees everything under the heavens. When He imparted weight to the wind, and meted out the waters by measure, when He set a limit for the rain, and a course for the thunderbolt, Then He saw it and declared it; He established it and also searched it out,” (Job 28:14; 22-27).

Job finally finds wisdom and the “place of understanding” and to man He said, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding,” (verse 28). Since the “fear of the Lord is wisdom,” then it stands to reason that those in the nether-world of departed spirits do not have wisdom (they are represented by the “sea, “deep,” “Abaddon,” and “Death”).

Abaddon, is a large-scale, supernatural being who personifies ‘destruction’. He is currently bound in Sheol/Hades. He is the diabolical king of the demon-centaurs that will be released during the fifth trumpet judgment of Revelation 9.

The FULL GOSPEL is a balanced Gospel which includes the methods of the ministry of Jesus. He pointed His Church in the right direction when he said, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES, and recovering of sight to the blind, to SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED,” (Luke 4:18). A great percentage of Jesus’ ministry was deliverance. “He went throughout all Galilee preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons,” (Mark 1:39). Jesus cast devils out! Jesus is our example!

The Church has largely abdicated its authority and blandly disbelieves in such things. The enemy has come in like a flood, and few have resisted it.

CASTLES UNDER THE SEA
As my father and I walked on dry ground on the floor of the sea, a brilliant light radiated in a distance. “Look father,” I exclaimed! “It shines and glitters like a fantastic jewel.” Soon we arrived at the brilliant city of infinite dimensions that seem to come together as if it was made by magic.

All at once, I found myself walking through the gates of the most mystifying and beautiful city on earth. It was beyond dreams and visions. My father said, “this is where your training will begin, my son,” he put his arm around my shoulder. “You will be strong and powerful because you were born for this position.”

It is impossible for me to describe to you the wonder of this awesome place. Physically you won’t see it, but spiritually you can see it. However, I have never seen a city on this earth more beautiful than this mysterious underwater metropolis. There were giant, futuristic crystal skyscrapers and brilliant lazar lights bedazzling the currents of the sea. It was a spellbinding place, beyond words, it reminds you of a spiritual Disney World. The streets were made of gold — not real gold but something that appeared like gold. There is nothing in the world that could compare to this enchanting place, such a stunning, majestic and ravishing habitation. It was an apocalyptical, fairyland.

THE HIDDEN CITY UNDER THE SEA
The ‘city under the sea’ is not a hidden place from the people of Africa. Since my salvation, the Lord Jesus has saved and delivered many African wizards and witches who have also given testimonies concerning the city under the sea. Africans from all over the continent have given testimony about this city.
This mysterious city is a supernatural place that is located under the sea off the coast of Ghana; and it extends to the Bermuda Triangle off the coast of Bermuda. This is the area where hurricanes are developed. The city is made of the substance where imaginations fail, beyond human belief  and is the most spectacular habitation in the world.

Many Africans have testified about its existence. Notice, that I quoted Revelation 12:12 for you at the heading of this chapter. Observe that the Bible says, “woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea!” The Bible clearly says that there are inhabitants (spiritual beings) living in the lands and the sea. Yes, It is true. I know because I’ve lived and worked there for Satan’s kingdom.

It is in this divinatory city that Satan trains his agents to steal the souls of men, women and children. This city is highly organized. In fact, Satan is documenting everything about people on the earth. There is a “Book of the Dead” where every evil deed committed by people on the earth is recorded. These records are carefully kept so that the demons can legally enslave and control the people living around the globe. He will also use these records to testify against these people before the throne of God after the end of the world. This is why the Antichrist is going to be able to rule the world when his time comes. He has no power unless it is given to him by people’s rebellion against God.

The Bible reveals the spirits dwelling under the sea do exist. But somehow Satan has been able to bewitch Christians from being able to see these Scriptures. When I got saved, Christian teachers were saying that ‘Antichrist’ comes out of the sea. Then they would say that the word, ‘sea’ represented the ‘masses’ or ‘nations’ (of people). They could not supernaturally ‘see’ (understand) these Scriptures.
Look at the depiction of the beast in the Bible. “And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names,” (Revelation 13:1). According to many Bible commentators, this “beast” is the end-time Antichrist. The “beast” represents two things:

He is a demon-prince who presently is locked up in the “abyss” and will be released in the end-time Tribulation (Revelation 11:7). This is the same beast here that is coming up out of the sea from the “abyss.”
He is a mortal man and receives power from the dragon in the end-times (II Thessalonians 1:3:12; Revelation 13:4-10). This mortal man is possessed by the demon-prince which comes up out the abyss in Revelation 11:7.

This sea-city is very organized into levels of spiritual power. For instance, if a person goes to a soothsayer or a witch, that person legally gives Satan power over his soul. Then, the witch or soothsayer would have to give authority of the person’s soul to Satan. Truthfully, even if a person is taken to one of these occultists as a child by a parent, then only a Christian who knows the superior power of Jesus Christ can break it. Their past must be destroyed. Whenever a demon is invited in, he must be kicked out!

This mysterious sea-city is filled with surprises but also very scientific. For example, whenever I wanted a cup of coffee, I’d just press a button and it would appear immediately. Many inventions are devised here. I saw computers here before they ever appeared on the earth.

PICTURES UNDER THE SEA
I saw many handsome men and beautiful young girls. There were also young children there. I was introduced to them and warmly welcomed. The children play games with mermaids. Disembodied demons lurked in the shadows of the room. Under helmets with drawn swords, stonefaced demons glared at the scene with their emotionless cold eyes. The giant fallen angels of  Genesis stood guarding the entrance to the city. The Ascended Masters (high-level ruling spirits) watched in glee. The smiles on their lips disguised the reality of the evil that was lurking in their hearts.
The Bible unveils the reality that the sea holds supernatural creatures. Leviathan is described as a frightening monster of the seas in Job 41. This name occurs five times in the Old Testament, always as an evil entity allied with Satan. He is called “King of the Sea”!
‘Rahab’ is called a fleeing sea serpent in Job 26:12,13. In chapter 6, “Abyss Under the Sea,” is the name of another demonic inhabitant. Rahab is likened to Egypt, which was drowned in the Red Sea, thereby overcoming and crushing the evil entity over those waters.

This exotic spiritual city is the place where I trained to become a wizard. Here, I learned to practice the deception for Satan and his strategies to help him to win the world for his evil cause. These plans not only included deceiving people in the world but also consisted of bewitching the backslidden people in the Christian churches.
The Bible says, “My people perish for a lack of knowledge.” Understand this, Satan knows that he is defeated, but he also recognizes Christians’ lack of knowledge. I tell you, He knows it. This is the reason why he can take the advantage. He works freely in many churches because only a few are able to discern his works and hardly anyone ever believes them.

SPIRITUAL ACTIVITY
When very young, Satan gave me the power to change into five different animals: a snake, crocodile, butterfly, lizard, and crab. This ability means that I was considered to be a middle-class wizard. A demon told me that he had the power to affect transmutations with humans. I asked, “what does that mean?”
“I can change humans to the forms of animals,” the demon replied. All at once, he changed me into a snake. I got so exited that I wanted to go and play in this new body form. I was able to go through walls and these new body forms were moved by my mind power. I became more and more intrigued with the powers of the demonic world.
The dictionary definition of a werewolf: “… a person transformed into a wolf or capable of assuming the form of a wolf.” This transmutation is not unique in Satanism, but it is done only at the highest levels of witchcraft. Severe demonic possession is also required. This spiritual process is also called “shape-shifting.” Shape-shifting is done with the power of demons and they can assume forms other than just a wolf!
If you have been paying attention, you have noticed several TV shows and movies that have depicted shape-shifting such as, “Roswell” and “Werewolf” with Jack Nicholson, “American Werewolf” in London, “American Werewolf in Paris,” “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer,” “Teen Wolf” with Michael J. Fox and The Harry Potter books and movies. These same supernatural powers are shown in these films.
This realm is the world to which every wizard seeks constant access. It is a world filled with exciting adventures with magic awaiting them at every step. A wizard will consider his ‘fantasy world’ to be more exciting, more fulfilling, than his real world.

THE POWER OF THE WIZARDS
In Africa, a middle-class wizard is considered to be a very powerful person. This means that if another person claims to be a witch or wizard and is not sharp, we can eliminate that individual. If you are not serving Jesus, the demons will try to kill you, too. In the kingdom of the darkness, everyday witches and wizards try to test each other’s power. If one wizard meets another person who claims to have supernatural powers, a wizard will want to see if that person is more forceful. This testing extends to Christians who say they have spiritual power. The way this power works is, a witch or wizard will fly and scan the Believers before they attempt to work their spells. They do this because every witch or wizard knows that if a curse is sent upon a person and if the mission fails, the demons will return and use their powers upon the attacking witch.
In fact, the demons will bring ten more powerful new demons that will attack the witch. Therefore, the wizard will send “scanning demons” to see if they can accomplish their attack. If the person is living a holy life covered by the blood of Jesus, a wise wizard will not attack.

CHILDREN UNDER THE SEA
There are many children in the underwater city. Some of these children belong to witchcraft families. However, many of these children are spiritual beings while others are hungry streetchildren that have been captured by Satan’s agents. These are children who have been abandoned by their parents and roam the streets. Sadly they are “throw-aways” and prime candidates targeted by the witches/wizard to turn them into witches and wizards, also. These street children are picked up by the queens of covens and the king wizards. These poor children are fed potions of human flesh and drink human blood from their witches’ pots. Soon, they are captured, enslaved and brought to the City Under the Sea to be trained as Satan’s agents.
Once they come to the underwater city, they go through initiation rites involving chanting and bathing them in blood, using both animal and human sacrifices. Here, human blood is used to appease the demi-gods. In exchange, they hope to be blessed by these gods with good fortune. They are asked to give away meals to their relatives to gain demonic power over them. Of course, they will put magical potions in these meals. These children are hardened in their hearts and they turn against their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and aunties to kill them. Many times these children are directed to work evil powers against their relatives, sometimes even bringing about their deaths to prove their loyalty to Satan.

It is a chilling story, but true. In Africa, we don’t have kitchens in our churches as the churches in America do. The reason is that witches/wizards sometime try to use evil potions to draw weak people out of the church and into their arms. We are very protective concerning our Christian children.
The “sea-city” is where homeless street children will be trained to become Satan’s agents to steal souls. They are sent into churches to destroy them. Many well-meaning Christians cannot discern the evil nature of these children because they simply see them as children. Notwithstanding, the demons that use the bodies of these children to control others are shrewd. At the same time, these evil demons are under the control of Satan. The demons simply use the bodies of the children to rob, kill and destroy.
The ‘sea children’ are able to cause great confusion and divisions among the church people. Some of the children from the City Under the Sea are used on the beaches to sell/give seashells to the tourists from all over the world. The unsuspecting buyer will take these shells home. The demons will attach themselves to these shells. This is a way that Satan can work powers through the shells as a point of contact. He uses them to destroy them and work evil in their homes.

I know a woman that took a beautiful shell from a child on the beach. His eyes had the sunken hollowed look that looked like black, endless pools with largely dilated, glassy pupils. Then she began to have tormenting sexual dreams. Suddenly, her yard filled with frogs. The Holy Spirit revealed to her to destroy the shell. She did and the dreams disappeared and so did the frogs.
Child witches and wizards can also be seen flying at night streaking like fiery rockets in the sky. Sometimes they can be seen whizzing through the night like fireworks. Midday is another dangerous time for a wizard, for then no man can cast a shadow. The superstition is that his soul has temporarily disappeared. A soul and shadow being equal, and invisible spirits are looking for an abode. Children are forbidden to play with their shadows by candlelight lest they tie them in knots or lose them. These witchcraft-controlled children each have many snake spirits in their stomachs and these evil spirits are the mediums of their evil assignments.
One young boy, seven years old, recently appeared in our church. He had painted his shoes with the mixture of human blood from his victims and a red dye. He confessed that he was the king of wizards of his coven. He told our church that he had five snakes in his stomach, one red, one white, and three black ones. He said that he used these snakes to kill people for his sacrifices. I know that it is hard for a normal mind to believe these things, but I have him confessing this on videotape!

Another young girl came into the church. She was nine years old. She told us that she was the Queen of her coven. She told us that she was sent into the church to destroy it. I’ve personally seen many of these agents from under the water in other churches freely working without detection.
Here is an interesting Scripture in this context: “Though they dig into Scheol, From there shall My hand take them: And though they ascend into heaven, From there shall I bring them down, And though they hide on the summit of Carmel, I will search them out and take them from there: and though they conceal themselves from My sight on the floor of the sea, from there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them….” (Amos 9:2-3).
Here is a Scripture that connects the underworld compartment, Sheol, and the serpent in the bottom of the sea. It was a serpent in the Garden of Eden that ensnared Eve. This same creature is used in Revelation 20:2 as a description of Satan. The Scripture links sea-serpents with Sheol, an underground abode of departed spirits.
Even “Sheol” (Hebrew) means “a place of inquiry” to bring fear into the hearts of men that they would repent “by the storms of life” to the gentle breeze of the Holy Spirit.”

WITCHES AND WIZARDS UNDERWATER
One of the works that are given to witches/wizards under the waters of the sea is to manage maternity centers in the village. When a woman comes to a maternity center for assistance to have  baby, a certain month would be chosen for the baby to be born or to die. But other months the babies would live. The answer to the problem of being barren… an agent is supposedly able to cure this childless condition by using the witchcraft powers of jujus. This form of witchcraft is considered the highest level.
If a barren woman goes to a native witch doctor, she would be asked to bring certain things such as human bones, ashes that were used to cook food for her. When she becomes pregnant, and gives birth, she does not deliver a normal human being. It could appear as a usual baby but it is a spiritually formed baby. In many women who are barren, the problems could be caused by demons. It is not a rare thing for a woman to be barren on earth but have children in the sea!
Some children who were captured by witches and wizards from the City Under the Sea can be rescued and converted. I personally have known many of these human children that have been converted to Christianity. In our church in Africa, we have children who have found salvation through the grace of God. We will tell them about Jesus but we will not let them receive Christ unless they bring their witches’ pots and witchcraft boxes to the church. These pots and boxes are filled with sorcery, magical things, such as witches fetishes, charms, crosses, powder, and “holy water”. We destroy the demonic powers over these pots and articles through prayer in the Name of Jesus. In conclusion, it has been our experience that if we try to convert them without getting these articles, they will just return back to witchcraft. The witches will simply draw them back through their ‘contact objects’.

WITCHES’ POTS
Every wizard is required to have a witch pot in which he must prepare human flesh for ritualism. Before I received Jesus, whenever I needed a human sacrifice to work ritualism, I would turn myself into a crocodile and look for a swimmer in a lake, river or sea. This spiritualized crocodile would pull the person down under the water and then spew some kind of slime over the victim’s body. Then the person would spring back to the top of the water. The victim would scream and thrash around in fear. The people with the victim would try to grab and try to hold on but the oozy matter stopped them from being able to maintain their grip of the body. The body would slip from their seizure and sink again and again. Then the spiritual crocodile could pull the body about fifty kilometers away in the water. Afterward, I would take the body parts for my sacrifice. The people were busy looking in the area where they last saw the victim. Several days later, the remains of the body would wash up somewhere else down the stream.
In those days, if I, as a wizard, wanted to kill a person, I could look into their stomach and could see everything about them. Then spiritually, I would put my hand into their abdomen and break their intestines and then within the next twenty-five minutes the person would have a stomachache, and pain. Soon, the situation would become very serious and the person would die.
I had many spiritual eyes that Satan put around my head. I could see in all directions, front, back and sides at any time. A high level wizard has special weapons so that he can defeat his spiritual opponents.

SPIRITUAL BEINGS
A person must have ‘spiritual eyes’ to tell the difference between demon spirits and the human beings’ spirits in the sea. Some of the demons in the bottom of the sea appear in the form of humans while others proudly sport their fallen natures and appear as gods and goddesses. Some come out as angels of light, while others look like mystical monsters. In fact, you can see the shapes and forms of some of these monsters by going into a rock and roll music store and viewing some of the covers on the albums/tapes as they have revealed themselves to the artists.
Also, they have exposed themselves to many people who are inventing demonic computer games. Another promoter is the horror movie. I must warn the reader that you cannot walk away clean when you expose yourself to Satan’s demonic fantasy world. These unclean spirits attach themselves to these demonic articles. Then, they will enter into your house and then into your body.
Believe me, after exposure, you will be tormented unless you are fortunate enough to receive Jesus Christ and deliverance.

ABADDON ~ KING OF THE ABYSS
The Bible speaks of supernatural beings coming out of the sea in the Revelation. “They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon,” (Revelation 9:11).
The supernatural beings, Leviathan and Rahab roam the seas and fight for the control of the entrances of Sheol-Hades. During the coming tribulation period, these evil forces will finally gain release of their comrades below, including their king, Abaddon.
The Lord will allow Satan to release two demonic orders from Sheol-Hades: One: The scorpion-centaurs, (Revelation 9:1-11). Two: The two-hundred million demon horsemen shown in Revelation 9:13-21.
In both these groups we see the shapes of horses. These scorpion-centaurs, whose appearance is like a horse and scorpion, are turned loose during the tribulation to torment men for five months, (Revelation 9:5). Whatever this torment is, the Bible doesn’t say, except the curse of this plague is that “men will seek death and will not find it; and they will long to die and death flees from them,” (Revelation 9:6).

POWERS WORK
The people did not come from just the African coast. Influential people such as, big businessman, doctors, lawyers and politicians were coming. I have seen important leaders come to the City Under the Sea such as Indians, Asians and Americans. These people were coming from all over the world… from everywhere. I even saw powerful political personalities in the underwater spirit world. These were people who had sold their souls for positions of power. They had given themselves over to greed and demon possession. They had sold their souls just to sit upon the seats of thrones of world tycoons, barons and kings. They came from all over the world. Some of the people who had been elevated to higher positions were given crowns and thrones. They were given titles such as, Queen of the West Coast or The King of the Wizards, etc. The devil’s gods also had thrones. At a tender age, I had been given these supernatural powers. I could fly (astral project – soul travel) and bring reports back to my father from the City Under the Sea. Once I was sent to represent my father in India. I didn’t fly on the plane. I’d leave my soul and put other demons in this body to keep the body going. Then I was able to soul travel to anywhere in the world. Then, later on, return to Africa.
Frequently, occultists deeply desire to spend much of their time in a strange fantasy world. They can travel there through astral travel, in which their soul actually leaves their body to go into the next dimension; of course, a demonic spirit must remain in the body to keep it from dying, as it will when it has no spirit. The Bible speaks to this fact most clearly; in Genesis 25:8, God describes Abraham’s death in this manner when Abraham’s spirit was released, and he died. Genesis 25:8:
“Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.”
Of course, any person that practices astral travel is to a great degree demon-possessed. A demonic spirit occupies the body to keep the human body alive while this diabolic practice happens. It is the demon spirit(s) possessing them in this witchcraft maneuver. Do not be deceived; this spiritual world is the supernatural world of the demonic. While in this dimension, the spirit of the person can be thoroughly deceived by the demonic host. While under demonic hypnotic control, the child is given counterfeit experiences that make them feel truly blessed, and very gratified. The entire experience occurs in the supernatural [demonic] realm.

I had so much spiritual authority that many world leaders were placed under me spiritually. After my salvation experience, I promised God not to mention their names. When I saw them, I would flash a demonic sign with my fingers and they would smile and flash me a sign. I thought that I had control of all these powers but it was only after receiving Jesus that I discovered that these powers had control over me.
This strange underwater habitation was used to manufacture things to lure people into busy lives so that they would not have time for God. Satan uses the gods of money, fashions, perversions, pornography, tattoos, and piercing with rings. These demons also produce new inventions. There are also laboratories in which articles are invented to steal the souls of people. As a result, gadgets are dreamed up here before they ever appear in the world. For instance, I remember seeing computers there in the early seventies before they ever became popular in the world. Computers are exploding and will eventually replace the telephone and television. Moreover, the Internet is not regulated so it is filled with evil music, pornographic, witchcraft, and evil demonic game sites. So, it is Satan’s playground. It is window-dressing for millions to stumble into wickedness. In any case, the
computer is one of Satan’s most powerful inventions to date.
Beneath the sea in the city, there are telescopes, televisions that seem to be supernatural. These machines are given to the agents to take into their homes for them to watch a person. These televisions allow agents to follow the movements of Christians and track the plans of churches that they are assigned to defeat. Satan also invents new fashions there to ensnare souls. Think about the new fads, such as body piercing, tattooing, electronics, computers, creams, perfumes, cosmetics, beautiful cars and fantasy things to steal people’s souls. If a person goes to a soothsayer, there is a written record that is kept under the sea. This curse of the law shown in the Bible will follow the person and their generational lines. Remember Satan keeps records!

RULED BY DEMONS
Though we were working with demons that we could feel, we were also being demonically controlled. We were like zombies ruled by evil demons. Now I can see that demons need human bodies to work through to accomplish their evil deeds.

Our motivations were void of human feelings. Our hearts were hard, cold as ice and full of horrendous hate. So, people were to us like inanimate objects, like dead dolls. We were totally involved with our desires to progress to higher levels in this demonic world. As Satan’s agents, it was sheer pleasure to make havoc upon and destroy the subjects of our assignments. Our cause was Satan’s malignant plots against mankind. We could cause all types of accidents, strife and wars between nations.

We could use our powers to cause death, sickness, and discouragement and break up marriages. We would work through our magic televisions tracking systems to bring our enemies into bankruptcies. Backsliding Christians were marked for death and we would quickly move to cause accidents to pull them into hell. Remember, the devil came to steal, kill and destroy.

Satan cannot appear to a person unless he owns them and they are slaves to serve him. At birth, God builds a supernatural wall of protection that divides people from Satan’s realms. Once the wall is torn down by the person’s will, it is very hard to rebuild. On the other hand, Satan has permission to appear to them when they belong to him. Some demons appear as beautiful angels. They are full of deceptions and know how to disguise themselves as angels of light. Remember the Bible says that

Beelzebub is called the ‘prince of demons’. He is the demon that controls all kinds of witchcraft. I have worked with this demon before. He doesn’t go through the powers and principalities because he reports and is only responsible to Lucifer alone. Beelzebub, the lord of the flies, is in charge of the witches and wizards. He is the embodiment of cruelty.

WATER SPIRITS
The under the sea city has many gods. They have been worshiped since the beginning of time. I saw the forms of these gods. The pantheon of the gods and goddesses of Egypt included the forms of beings such as Bast, the cat goddess. She is the goddess of pleasure. The famed Isis is known to use her powers to heal humankind. Ma’at, the goddess of law, truth and justice while Seth is considered the god of chaotic forces. Serpent-headed Nehebka presided over funeral rites, Ibis-headed Throth is the god of the moon; and Jezebel, the territorial goddess that captures the hearts of men and turns them away from their faith to draw them to her Baal.
Each person under the sea has a master demon. He is a supervisor. If I had a question, like, why are we killing? Once my supervisor answered something like this, “It is in the Bible, and the man says that unless you eat his flesh and drink His blood, you will not live.” We didn’t know anything about the Bible. So we started eating human flesh and human blood so that we could live.
Some of the demons told me things that I could not understand until I was saved and delivered. I remember one time that I asked a demon, “What is our reward for all the killing that we are required to do for Satan?”
The demon replied, “If you want a reward, there was a Man who came into this world. He spent only thirty-three years here. He died. The people crucified Him. He died and on the third day, He arose from the dead.”
I asked, “Who is this Man?”
The demon replied, “We cannot mention His name here”.
I asked the demon. “Is it Mohammedan?”
He said, “No man”.
“Is it the Buddha?”
“No man, it is not the Buddha.”
He said, “If you want a good reward, repent. We cannot repent, but you are a human being, created in the image of God. You still have chance. There was a Man who came into this world. He spent only thirty-three years. He was crucified, died, buried and on the third day, He was raised from the dead.”
I said, “mention the name to me.”
The demon said, “Shhhh! We cannot mention the name.”
I said, “There is someone more powerful than our people?”
He said, “Oh, a hundred times.”
I started mentioning principalities. He replied a hundred times. I asked him if there was somebody more powerful than Guru? (We called Satan, Guru.)
“More than ten times” the demon replied.
“Who is that person?” I questioned him.
He told me, “The people who follow the Man that I am talking about, we call them rebellious people.”
He told me that if you go and follow that man, you would not suffer. I didn’t know to whom this demon was talking about, because he said that he was forbidden to say the man’s name.

SPIRITUAL WATER SCENES
I remember that one of my favorite gods that I met in the underworld city was Mammon — the spirit of gold. He is made of a gold-type substance and has one eye at the center of his forehead and marks on his head. He is the world’s most evil golden creature. He stands about eight feet tall. He walks like he has springs on his feet. He is a netherworld giant demi-god, the spirit behind the money of the world. He rules in the lives of those dedicated to his name. He is in charge of Satan’s storehouse of money. He has his hands in every evil thing on the earth. He is very powerful and worshiped by those who want to rule the world.
Mammon told me, “They are all joining Satan’s plan for a New World Government because of their greed for filthy lucre, passion, the lust for riches is the root of all evil.” His dark eyes darted greedily back and forth.
“You are right about that,” I sighed.

“Money makes the world spin.” He turned again and looked straight through me. Then he talked about the statue of Zeus that has place in the entrance hall of the United Nations. He suddenly started laughing. “Imagine this. He is the god of wars. Yet there he is, guarding the place where those dumb humans speak of, “peace and safety” are supposed to rule over the peace of the world.”

Then he asks me, “do you like Zeus more than you do me?” his voice sounding jealous and whinny.
“No, of course not,” I said. But on the spur of the moment, he had disappeared.
The information that I am telling you that it is not a fairy tale, it is something that I have seen.
You just don’t know how privileged you are, Christians. The Bible says, the devils believe and tremble. It is true. The demons told me that Christians don’t believe that there is a problem. They believe that many are under deception and unbelief.

Spiders Web

O, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. satan lays his snares in much the same fashion as the spider. When satan catches a victim in his sinful web he allows them to struggle to free themselves until they are weary and weak. He then moves in to bind them with more steel cords of sin. Those caught in the satan’s web cannot free themselves. They struggle in vain. They are

held captive, sometimes for an entire lifetime (enter spider web programming & that SRA note that he says he was running from those spiders for 40 years), until satan comes in for the final kill and takes them away to an eternal death.

Here is the good news! There is One who can break the power of sin. "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him." (John 6:65) The Father will call. He wants us to desire to be delivered. If we so desire we must then seek our deliverance through the Son. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6.

Ojani Noa, former husband of Jennifer Lopez, and his girlfriend, Claudia Vazquez, are continuing their barrage of attacks against the star, after a judge granted the former Lopez beau permission just two days ago to make a sex tape filmed on their honeymoon available. The attacks are now escalating with Vazquez making outrageous claims on the show 'Estrellas Hoy.'

According to Vazquez, Lopez practices "Santeria and black magic" and even "did something to Salma Hayek" so that she would not get the part of slain Mexican singer Selena Quintanilla Perez in the film about her brief life and career, cut short by the president of her fan club, who killed the singer.

The producer and girlfriend of Ojani Noa, a former South Beach waiter, alleges in the video clip that Jennifer "practices Santeria, black magic." "And I've been told that she does the worst of things, scary things. She has a godmother in Miami. I don't know her, but Ojani does. She [Jennifer] calls and tells her 'Do this to so-and-so. Light a black candle.' She's ensnared all of her relationships in this, something typical of people who practice Santeria," Vazquez says. "They [santeros] do their magic to keep people with them, attract them, things like that ... But after all of that she leaves them, because she bores of them easily."

Vazquez goes on to claim that the 'American Idol' judge also asked the "witch" for help in landing the role that made her famous: "To grab the role in the Selena movie, she supposedly did something to Salma Hayek, because Salma was also trying to land the part and she's Mexican, while Jennifer is Puerto Rican. She went to her godmother and she [the godmother] did something so that [Jennifer] would get the part and not Salma."

Whether this salacious rumor is true, or not, is Vazquez overstepping her bounds? After so many months battling legally to move forward with the sex tape "project" during their marriage, which ended years ago, why make these assertions? Is this just an obvious invitation to reap the wrath of Lopez's legal team to file defamation charges? Or worse, what if she summons the "witch" and casts an evil spell?

Yes, there's a crazy rumor being floated that Jennifer has a godmother in Miami who harnesses the dark power of Santeria to benefit's J.Lo's career and personal life. Of course, the source of this rumor is Claudia Vazques, who just so happens to be dating Lopez's first husband Ojani Noa (who just so happens to be threatening to release a damaging personal tape of Lopez).

Guanabee caught some snippet of a Spanish-language gossip show where Vazquez spreads her Santeria claims:


"I've been told she does the worse -- frightening stuff! Jennifer has a godmother in Miami, which I've never met but Ojani knows her, and she calls this woman to tell her 'do this to this person, put up a black candle, etc.' She's done 'amarres' [spells] on all her boyfriends. It's a typical thing for anybody involved in santeria. But, even with all that, she always ends up leaving them."

Vazquez also says that J.Lo also ordered the use of Santeria to nab the lead role in Selena over Salma Hayek.

Coincidentally, Vazquez, Noa, and Lopez are in a drawn out legal fight over a tape that contains Lopez in the nude supposedly shot during Noa and Lopez's relationship. Lopez has previously won court cases ruling that Noa can not release the footage. However, her lawyers now apparently believe that Vazquez is trying to release the tape on Noa's behalf.

Jennifer Lopez's sacked make-up artist is reportedly set to reveal all about the star's bizarre voodoo rituals with a faith healer in a new book. Scott Barnes, who was recently fired by the diva after he was caught leaking her secrets, has told friends he plans to spill J.Lo's secrets in a book or to a magazine. Gonzalez follows the Caribbean Santeria form of religious mysticism, which is a version of voodoo involving animal sacrifice, chanting, trances and rituals where the priests and priestesses - of which Gonzalez is one - give advice to their "godchildren". The psychic - who can reportedly go into a trance for up to five hours, which allows her to delve into people's pasts and predict the future - was rumoured to have advised Jennifer to call off her September wedding to Ben Affleck. The couple, who have since split, publicly said they scrapped the planned nuptials due to intense "media intrusion." But just hours before J.Lo made the official statement, she had reportedly visited Gonzalez in a run-down Los Angeles suburb.

The voodoo priestess is also believed to have told Jennifer to burn her 25,000GBP Vera Wang wedding dress to rid her of the demons that plagued her love life.

Gonzalez once said: "I am involved with Santeria and, yes, I am friends with Jennifer Lopez, but I cannot discuss my relationship with Jennifer."

"ok, so I go home yesterday after work and my sister is talking to a friend of hers on a cell phone. I hear my sister say "yeah, they talk to these spirits, apparently....." and--of course--that catches my attention. My sister looks at me and states "I'll explain later," so I go and grab some dinner, and then go back to the living room. My sister is off the phone, and I ask her what she was talking about.

Now, before I delve into this, I need to explain my sister a little; she's a VERY pragmatic and practical person. she is currently enrolled in a university studying e-business and economics. She usually ridicules my "conspiracy theories" and laughs at me when I say I think the elite are occult members. Now, she certainly believes in the NWO, she just thinks it's an Oligarchy of wealthy men who've quietly bought up corporations and media outlets, and use money (through campaign financing and lobbyist groups) to influence and buy politicians. But that's ALL. she doesn't believe there is any spiritual aspect to this, she sees it purely in terms of a secular political issue.

she thinks anyone who believes in reptilians is mentally retarded. she thinks the alien agenda is stupid. She thinks occult symbolism in Hollywood is a product of my over-active imagination.

That's my sister. Now, on to the events of last night:

sister: so, I was talking to Sarah today (all names have been changed to protect the privacy of individuals. "Sarah" is a childhood friend of my sister's). And she told me that our old cohort has converted to this weird new religion.

me: what religion?

sister: well, it all started with Brian. You remember him, right? He was part of the group of friends that me and "Liz" (my older sister; no, her name isn't really Liz) used to hang out with.

Me: yeah, I remember them.

sister: well, he started dating this Cuban girl a year or so ago, and she was a practitioner of Santaria, this Carribean-based religion that was imported by African slaves.

Me: ok....

sister: well, you remember how Brian used to be a big time drug dealer? Well, he became a MAJOR dealer in his early 20's, but one time, some rivals of his stole his entire stash of cocaine and weed, and he didn't have the money to pay back his supplier. So his supplier had him kidnapped and threatened to kill him if he didn't pay for the stolen drugs. Brian managed to scrounge up the money by selling his possessions, but he quit the business afterward and was really shaken by the entire incident. So much so, that he wanted to devote himself to spirituality and finding "God."

He then met this Cuban girl, who taught him about Santaria, and he ended up converting.

Me: Seriously, BRIAN? That guy seems like the LEAST spiritual person, EVER.

sister: I know, but the kidnapping incident really changed his worldview. So now, Brian started talking about Santaria to all of our friends, and he had them meet his girlfriend. His friends started to convert one by one because of what happened with Brian's sister. Brian and his family was REALLY poor, and his sister was a high school drop-out and was working as a waitress. Supposedly, after his sister converted to Santaria, she started doing all of these strange rituals and ceremonies in order to talk to their "spirit" gods to gain wealth.

And now, his sister has some great job, and she gets paid like 100K a year.

When our cohort found out, they all started converting because they wanted to have the same success she did.

Me: whoa, wait, what do you mean "rituals?"

Sister: Astral, this is where it gets FREAKY. Do you know about Santeria?

Me: No.

Sister: well, apparently, they think that if you perform all of these rituals and ANIMAL FUCKING SACRIFICES, you can start talking to spirits, and they can give you what you want....as long as you do what they ask you to do.

Me: what do you mean.

Sister: Just what I mean. Listen, I went to visit Jack at his apartment the other day. He converted a few months back. Astral, his apartment scared the shit out of me.

Me: why?

sister: Every room was painted a blood, crimson red. The living room, the dining room, and both bedrooms. Like, BLOOD red. Not only that, he has four idols he keeps in his living room, one on each corner. Whenever he makes food for himself, he also makes a plate of food for each of his idols and places the plate on the outstretched arms of the idol. Also....there was something else.

Me:what?

Sister: There is a metal bowl on top of each idol. Inside each bowl, there are these little metal objects; like, iron nails, tools, or just bits and pieces of indistinguishable metal objects.

Me: why is that scary?

sister: the metals are covered in blood.

Me: wha....?

sister: in real blood

Me: human....?

Sister: no, animal blood. They sacrifice small animals to these spirits. Jack said he usually sacrifices raccoons.

Me: dude, are you joking, here? Are you just making fun of me for researching the occult?

sister: NO! I swear to God, Astral, you know me; I usually end up laughing half way through any prank I play on you guys. I'm fucking serious.

Me: ok, go on.

Sister: Jack wanted me to go visit their church

Me: wait, they have a "church?"

Sister: yeah, apparently, Brian now rents this building on the North side of Chicago, and he's turned it into a church for his congregants. He's now a high-ranking priest in Santeria.


Me: Brian's a freaking priest of some occult religion? WTF? Did you visit the church?


Sister: hell no! I'm not done, yet. dude, I've been talking to everyone in the cohort who is now a convert. they ALL say they've actually talked and seen real spirits.

Me: are you sure they're not just hallucinating? Are they using drugs? I heard of this chick who was in a Christian church and had scoliosis, and she was praying when she thought God healed her and she started jumping and running around the church. If you can trick the mind into truly believing something, the mind can play tricks with your senses and make you see and hear things that aren't there.

sister: I thought of that too, but they ALL swear that when they performed these rituals and ceremonies, they've each been visited by spirits who promised to give them what they want, as long as they do what the spirits ask them to do

Me: what do the spirits ask them to do?

sister: I don't know, they wouldn't tell me.

Me: why not?

sister: I don't know, they're really secretive

Me: well, what exactly do they do to summon these spirits?

sister: I don't know, Astral, but they say they have to sacrifice animals and wear these beads around their necks.

Me: beads? why?

sister: why do you keep asking these questions? I don't know, they just do.

Me: well, haven't you asked them what exactly they believe? Who these spirits are? What they do during these ceremonies?

sister: why would I ask that?

Me: (I'm getting annoyed now) umm, out of curiousity? I would have asked them.

sister: I don't want to find out. It's really creepy.

Me: well, what kind of animals do they sacrifice, besides raccoons? How do they get these animals?

sister: ugh, I don't know. look, I'm tired of talking about this.

she then starts checking her phone and texts a friend.

I'm annoyed, though. My sister is the type of person who will talk casually about religion, but she's not really into it; she thinks mysticism and occultism are silly, she doesn't even like fictional films. She told me once that she doesn't like reading unrealistic fiction or watching unrealistic fictional movies because "I can't get interested in a story if it can't happen in real life." She doesn't like science fiction and horror movies because of that.

I think that's why I truly believe what she's telling me is true. She looked really spooked out yesterday, and when I pushed her for more details, she just didn't want to. But apparently, many of my sister's friends have converted to this strange religion, and they all swear they've actually seen and talked to real spirits."

Aaronites - The descendants of Aaron are so called in I Ch. 12:27, where we read that Jehoiada, their leader, w/ 3,700 men, also Zadok & 22 captains, joined David in Ziklag; and in 27:17, that this Zadok was their ruler afterwards; and in Lu. 1:5, that the wife of Zacharias was of the “daughters of Aaron.” From Josh. 21:13-19, it appears that the Aaronites had thirteen cities assigned to them viz., Hebron, Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa, Holon, Debir, Ain, Juttah, & Beth-shemesh, out of Judah & Simeon; & Gibeon, Geba, Anathoth, & Almon, out of Benjamin.  The high priesthood continued in the family of Eleazar, the third son of Aaron, until the time of Eli, B.C. 1200-1141, who was the family of Ithamar, Aaron’s youngest son, but it was restored to the house of Eleazar in the person of Zadok, who received it when Abiathar was dismissed by Solomon (I Ki 2:35), thus fulfilling the prediction in 1 Sa. 2:30.

Aaron’s Rod - The staff of Aaron. It was preserved in the ark as a symbol of priesthood, ever blossoming & yielding fruit (Heb 9:4).

Abaddon (destroyer). Name applied to the king, or angel, of the bottomless pit.  The word has the same meaning as the Greek Apollyon (Rev 9:11).

Abram (a lofty father), Abraham (father of a multitude).  The founder of the Hebrew nation; born B.C. 1996.  The story of his life is found in Gen. 9-25.  In Gen. 11:10-31, the genealogy of the Shemites (Semites), of the sons of Shem, is given, bringing his line to Terah, the father of Abraham, Naor, and Haran, their home being in Ur of the Chaldees, in S. Babylonia.  Tereh later moved to Haran, where he died, & Abram, then 75 years of age w/ his wife Sarai, & nephew Lot, quite Babylonia & went to Canaan, via Damascus.  He first stopped at Shechem & Bethel (Gen 12) then proceeded to Egypt, where his wife’s beauty, & the representation that she was his sister, brought confusion causing Pharaoh to order him to quit Egypt - which he did, returning to Bethel.  After differences w/ Lot, he moved to Hebron; pursued chedorlaomer &others who made raids on Canaan, to Dan; rescued Lot; & aided in restoring the kings of Sodom & Gomorrah, refusing compensation (Gen.14). Hagar, his concubine, bore him a son, named Ishmael, & later his wife Sarai aged 90, bore him Isaac, Abram then being 100 years of age (Gen 17). After this their names became “Abraham” & “Sarah”, the former embodying the promise that he was to become “the father of a multitude of nations.” Before the birth of Isaac, Abraham encountered King Abimelech at Gerar, & to him represented his wife as his sister, whereupon she was taken into the harem of the king, being released, however, when it became known that she was a wife (Gen 20.  In Gen. 22 is recorded the test of Abraham’s faith, when he was commanded to sacrifice his son Isaac.  Sarah died at the age of 127 (Gen. 23:1), and was buried in the cave of Machpelah, at Hebron, purchased from Ephron the Hittite.  Abraham then married Keturah who bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, & shuah.  He died at the age of 175 & was buried by the side of Sarah in Machpelah.  Abraham was greatly distinguished for his piety & wisdom; and is repeatedly called “the friend of God’ in the Bible.

Absalom - (father of peace) Son of David & the only one by Maacah, daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur.  He was noted for his personal beauty, & for his hair, which is said to have weighed 200 shekels (see weights & measures) when cut off.  He had a sister named Tamar, for the defiling of whom he slew his half-brother. Amnon.  He then fled to the house of Talmai, his mother’s father, at Geshur. Joab, commander of David’s army, employed a woman of Tekoah to appear before David to lay a supposed case before him for judgment; and she applied the anticipated decision so adroitly to the case of Absalom, that the king discovered the object & detected the interposition of Joab. Regarding this as in some degree expressing the sanction of public opinion, David gladly commissioned Joab to bring his son back to Jerusalem. Absalom returned, after an absence of  3 years; but his father controlled his feelings, and declined to admit him through the instrumentality of Joab, a complete reconciliation was effected & the father once more indulged himself w/ the presence of his son (II Sa. 13:39; 14:33).  Scarcley had Absalom returned, when he began to cherish aspirations to the throne, which he must have known was already pledged to another (see II Sa. 7:21).  After gaining the favor of the people, he rebelled  against his father & raised a large army, which was defeated by that of David.  While he was retreating from battle, Absalom was killed by Joab, BC 1023, although David had ordered that his life be spared.  The account of his ambition for his father’s throne is found in II Sa. 15; of his conspiracy, 15-17; of his death & burial, 18:9-17; of David’s mourning for him, 18:33; 19:1-8’ of his children, 14:27; 18:18; I Ki. 15:2.

Achaicus -  (belonging to Achaia) A Christian of Corinth who visited Paul at Phillppi I Co. 16:17

Achan, Achar (trouble).  One of the tribe of Judah, who at the destruction of Jericho by Joshua, stole part of the spoil & hid it, in disobedience to the command of the Lord.  This action brought a curse & defeat upon the Israelites. He was discovered by lot, & stoned to death w/ all his family in the valley of Achor (Josh. 6:18; 7:18) He is called Achar in I Ch. 2:7.

Accuser - An enemy or adversary, particularly in a court of law (Mat. 5:25) In Job 1:6; Zech. 3:1; Rev. 12:10, Satan is represented as the public accuser of the people of God.

Aceldama (field of blood) - A small field S. of Jerusalem, purchased by the chief priests w/ the thirty pieces of silver which Judas received for betraying Jesus.  Aceldama was the “potter’s field” used for the burial place of strangers. In acts 1:18, Judas is said to have purchased the field, because it was bought w/ his money Acts 1:18.

Adder - A common name given to the viper, a species of serpent.  “Adder” is used in the Bible as a translation of four Hebrew words; and in the AV signifies four different serpents viz., the cobra (Psa 58:4; 91:13); the horned snake, or cerastes (Gen. 49:17); the viper (Psa 140:3); & in Prov. 23:32, a snake elsewhere called “cockatrice,” & may refer indefinitely to different species of vipers.  The horned snake, or cerastes, is about a foot long, & has black spots & 2 horns. It lies hidden in the sand, which it closely resembles in color, & darts upon the unsuspecting traveler. It has a very deadly bite & is frequently found in the wilderness of Judea. See Asp.

Adultery - As defined by the Jewish law, the unlawful intercourse of a man w/ a married or betrothed woman not his own - a crime forbidden in the 7th commandment.  Adultery is the only offense mentioned by Christ as sufficient for divorce (Mat. 5:32; Ex. 20:14).

Advocate - One that pleads the cause of another.  In a technical sense, the office of advocate was unknown to the Jews until their subjection to the Romans.  The word is applied to Christ as our Interecessor (I Jno. 2:1).

Ahab - (father’s brother - uncle). 1. Son of Omri, & his successor, as 7th king of Israel (918-897 BC; new dates, 874-853). He married Jezebel, daughter of Ethball, king of the Zidonians, & was led by her into idolatry & incited to the persecution of the prophets of Jehovah. The most remarkable incidents in his life were his defeating Benhadad, whom he freely dismissed, & his seizing the vineyard of Naboth.  During his reign appeared the great prophet Elijah, who came into direct collision w/ Jezebel when she attempted to introduce the worship of Baal & the goddess Astarte, of whom her father had been a priest before he usurped the sovereignty of Tyre, BC 900. I Ki. 16-22; II Ki. 1:1; 3:1; 5; 8:16, 25, 27, 28, 29; 9:7-9, 25, 29; 10:1, 10, 11, 17, 18, 30; 21:3, 13; Mic. 6:16.  2. A false prophet who was in Babylon during the early part of the Exile, but was put to death by Nebuchadnezzar, BC 600 Jer. 29:21,22.

Air - The air or atmosphere which surrounds the earth is often indicated in the Bible by the word “heaven.” “The fowls of heaven” (Job 35:11) means the birds of the air.  To “beat the air” or to “speak into the air” (I Co. 9:26; 14:9) signifies acting or speaking w/ out judgment.  In Eph. 2:2, “the power of the air” probably refers to demons.  Many Jews  & heathen thought that the lower part of the air was occupied by spirits, especially those of an evil nature. Alexandria - (of Alexander). An important city of Egypt, between the Mediterranean Sea & Lake Mareotis, twelve miles from the W. mouth of the Nile.  It was founded by Alexander the Great (which see), BC 332, & derived it's name from him.  It was the birthplace of Apollos (Acts 18:24), first a disciple of John & later of Christ.   Alexandria became the capital of the Grecian kings reigning in Egypt, & was one of the metropolis of grandest cities in the world, the metropolis of Egypt as well as a great seat of commerce & wealth.  It contained the greatest library of ancient times & a famous museum.  In it's best days, it is supposed to have had over 600,000 inhabitants, mostly Greeks & Jews. The modern city is built on the ruins of the ancient one, about 125 miles N. of Cairo. It is still in the seat of extensive commerce, & has a population of about 60,000.  Though not often mentioned in the Bible, Alexandria was in may ways closely connected w/ later Jewish history. Acts 6:9; 18:24; 27:6; 28:11.

Alliance - The Israelites were strictly forbidden to ally themselves w/ the heathen by family or by political ties, & alliances w/ the Canannites were especially prohibited. (Deut. 7:3-6). Hence the mourning & prayer of Ezra, & the subsequent separating of all “strangers” (foreigners) from the people of Israel (Ezra 9-10).

Alms - A charitable gift (Acts 3:3, 10:2).  The word is not found in the OT, but is frequently used in the NT. The Jews were required by the law (Lev. 19:9, 10; Deut 15:11, etc.) to provide for the poor.  See poor.

Alpha - The first letter in the greek alphabet, of which Omega is the last. They thus signify "the beginning" & "the end," & in this sense are applied as a title to Christ.  Rev. 1:8, 11 (omitted from RV in ver.11); 21:6; 22:13.

Amalek - (warlike; dweller in the vale) 1. Son of Eliphaz, & grandson of Esau. Gen 36:12, 16; I Ch. 1:36. 2. The name is also applied to his descendants, who are, however generally called Amalekites (but see Amalekites). Ex. 17: 8-16; Num 24:20; I Sa. 15:2, 3, 5, 20.

Amalekites - A powerful nomadic people who dwelt in Arabia Petraea, between the Dead Sea & the Red Sea, or between Havilah & Shur (I Sa. 15:7), S. of Idumaea, & E. of the N. part of the Red Sea. They are generally supposed to have been the descendants of Amalek, the son of Eliphaz & grandson of Esau; but Moses speaks of the Amalekites long before this Amalek was born - ie in the time of Abraham, when Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, devasted their country (Gen. 14:7) from which it has been inferred that there was some other & more ancient Amalek, from whom this people were descended.  Without any provocation, the Amlekites attacked the rear of Israel as they were journeying through the wilderness, but were defeated by Joshua at Rephidim (Ex. 17:8-16), and in the consequence of this assult a perpetual war was declared against them by Jehovah; along w/ the Canaanites, they defeated the rash attack of Israel, & drove them “even unto Hormah” (Num. 14:43-45); they are called by Balaam “the first of the nations” (or Boyim), either from their antiquity, or their warlike character, or from their being the first to attack the people of Israel (Num. 24:20), who were hence forth required to “remember” their treacherous attack (Deut. 25:17-19).  They, along w/ the children of Ammon, joined w/ Eglon, king of Moab (BC 1354), to attack Israel, and took Jericho, the “city of palm-trees” (Judg. 3:13); they were successfully opposed by the Ephraimites in the conflict w/ Jabin, king of Hazor, BC 1296 (Judg. 5:14); they joined w/ the Midianites & the children of the East (or Kedem) in the days of Gideon, the son of Joash the Abi-ezrite, BC 1256 (Judg. 6:3), but were defeated by him in the valley of Jezreel (Judg. 6:33; 7: 12-22); they once had possession of a mountain in the land of Ephraim, in which Abdon, the son of Hillel the Pirathonite was buried (Judg. 12:15); they were smitten by Saul, BC 1086 (I Sa. 14:48); again by him, BC 1079 throughout their whole country “from Havilah to Shur,” on the border of Egypt, when Agag, their king, was cut in pieces (I Sa 15:2-33); they were invaded and well-nigh destroyed by David (I Sa. 27:8-10); their previous non-destruction by Saul was the cause of his rejection (I Sa. 28:18); in David’s absence, they invaded & plundered Ziklag, BC 1056 & carried off his 2 wives & others as captives, but were pursued, overtaken, & defeated by David (I Sa. 30:1-31); one of their nation,  accusing himself of Saul’s death was put to death by David (II Sa. 1:1-16), by whom their silver & gold were dedicated to Jehovah (II Sa. 8:11, 12; I Ch. 18:11); they were again smitten in the days of Hezekiah, BC 726-697, by five hundred men of the tribe of Simeon, who there after dwelt in their place, at the east of the valley of Gedor or Gerar (I Ch. 4:39-43); they are mentioned w/ Ammon & the Philistines as among the enemies of Israel (Psa. 83:7). They are not again noticed in Scripture, unless Haman the Agagite be reckoned one of their nation, which is not improbable (Esth. 3:1).

Ambassador - In II Ch. 32:31, an interpreter; elsewhere a messenger.  Ambassadors were sent by the Jews only as occasion required, in peace or war.  Ministers are ambassadors of Christ (II Co. 5:20).

Ammonites - Descendants of Ben-Ammi, son of Lot by his younger daughter; frequently called “children of Ammon.”  Their country lay at the NE of Moab, & E. of Reuben, between the Arnon & the Jabbok.  Their border was strong (Num. 21:24); they were not to be distressed or meddled w/ by Israel; the original inhabitants of their country were giants, & called Zamzummim (great, & tall, & many as the Anakim) who were destroyed by the Ammonites (Deut. 2:19, 20, 37); their chief city was Rabbath-Ammon, & it contained the gigantic bedstead of Og, king of Bashan (Deut. 3:11); the river Jabbok was their border (deut. 3:16); none of their nation was to be allowed to enter the congregation of Jehovah to the 10th generation (Deut. 23:3); they along w/ Amalek, joined Eglon, king of Moab & smote Israel, & took Jericho, the “city of palm-trees” (Judg. 3:13); their gods were served by the children of Israel, so that Jehovah sold the latter into their hands & they served them eighteen years on both sides of the Jordan.  Israel crying to Jehovah, the Ammonites encamped in Gilead, but were defeated by Jephhthah, who drove them from Aroer to Minnith (Judg. 10:6-18; 11:1-33)’ their chief national god was Chemosh (Judg. 11:24); they besieged Jabesh Gilead, when Nahash their king threatened its inhabitants w/ a severe penalty, but he was discomfited by Saul (I Sa. 11:1-11; 12:12); they were accordingly vexed by Saul afterwards (I Sa. 14:47); their silver & gold taken in battle were dedicated to Jehovah by David (II Sa. 8:12; I Ch. 18:11);  Hanun, their king, the son of Nahash, having insulted the messengers of David, hired the Syrians to help him, but they were defeated by Joab & Abishai (II Sa. 10:19; I Ch. 19:1-19); who also besieged Rabbah, his capital; David went to complete the capture, took all the spoil, & humbled the inhabitants (II Sa. 11:1; 12:26-31; I Ch. 20:1-3); Shobi the son of Nahash, & brother of Hanun, of the city of Rabbah, however, brought provisions to support David at Mahanaim when he was fleeing from Absalom (II Sa. 17:27); Zelek, also an Ammonite, was one of David’s thirty valiant men (II Sa. 23:37; I Ch. 11:39); Solomon loved several women of that nation, & went after Milcom, their “abomination” & also built a high-place for Molech (I Ki. 11:1, 5, 7, 33); one of his wives, Naamah, the mother of Rehoboam, was an Ammonitess (I Ki. 14:21, 31; II Ch. 12:13); along w/ the Moabites & Edomites, they attacked Jehoshaphat, but were defeated, BC 896, & destroyed each other (II Ch. 20:1-23); Zabad, the son of Shimeath, an Ammonitess, conspired w/ Jehozabad, the son of Shimrith, a Moabitess, against Joash, king of Judah & slew him BC 839 (II Ch. 24:26); the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah, BC 810 (II Ch. 26:8); Jotham again reduced them to tribute BC 758 (II Ch. 27:5); the Ammonites along w/ others invaded Judah in the days of Jehoiakim BC 610-599.  Their abominable customs still infected the Jews in the time of Ezra (Ezra 9:1); Tobiah, an Ammonite, along w/ Sanballat the Horonite, BC 445 mocked reviled & tried to hinder Nehemiah in his work (Neh 2:10, 19; 4:3, 7); the Jews though acquted w/ the law aginst admitting an Ammonite to the tenth generation, nevertheless married wives of that nation (Neh. 13:1, 23) they are mentioned along w/ Amalek as among the enemies of Israel (Psa 83:7); yet as becoming obedient to the people of God in the latter days (Isa. 11:14); they cruelly used the women in Gilead, & were threatened w/ destruction (Amos 1:13-16); & because of their reviling Judah, & magnifying themselves aginst Jehovah, they were again threatened w/ destruction (Zeph 2:8-11); they are described as being uncircumcised in flesh, & as punished w/ the uncircumcised in heart of the house of Israel (Jer 9:26); as receiving, along w/ the other nations, from Jeremiah, the cup of the Lord’s anger (Jer. 25:21); as having a yoke sent to their king by Jeremiah in token of their subjection to Nebuchadnezzar (Jer. 27:3); as having afforded shelter to the Jews who feared Nebuchadnezzar (Jer. 40:11)’ their king, Baalis, is said to have sent Ishmael, son of Nethaniah, to slay Gedaliah, son of Ahikam (Jer. 40:14); Ishmael tried to carry off his captives to the Ammonites (Jer. 41:10), but being defeated, escaped himself to them w/ only eight men (Jer. 41:15); the destruction of Rabbah, Heshbon, & Ai, was fortold by Jeremiah, w/ their restoration (Jer. 49:1-6); Ezekiel foretold the coming of the sword of Nebuchadnezzar to Rabbah & the people (Eze. 21:20,28); also the coming of the children of the East, or of Kedem (Eze. 25:2-10) But they were to escape from Antiochus Epiphanies (Dan. 11:41).

Ammonitess - A female of the descendants of Ammon. See Ammonites.

Amorites (mountaineers)  - A warlike powerful race or tribe descended from Canaan, the fourth son of Ham, son of Noah; mentioned after the Jebusite & before the Graphite (Gen. 10:16; I Ch. 1:14); some of them dwelt in Hazezon-tamar, or Engedi, on the W of the Salt Sea & were smitten by Chedorlaomer, in the days of Abraham, BC 1913 (Gen 14:7); three of their chiefs, Mamre, Eschol, & Aner, were confederates of Abraham (Gen 14:13);  they seem to have contended unsuccessfully w/ Jacob (48:22); they are mentioned between the Hittites & Perizzites, as inhabitants of Canaan (Ex. 3:8, 17; Judg. 3:5; Neh. 9:1); between the Hittites & the Hivites (Ex. 13:5); before the other tribes (Ex 23:23); between the Canaanite & the  Hittite (Ex. 33:2; Josh. 11:3); before the Canaanites & other tribes (Ex. 34-:11); as dwelling in the mountains of Judah (Num. 13:29); as having the river Arnon as their dividing line from Moab (Num 21:13) as having a king named Sihon, BC 1452, who not only refused to let Israel pass, but came & attacked them at Jahaz, when he was defeated & his land taken possession of by Israel (Num. 21:21-32); it was given to the 2 & ½ tribes (Num. 32:33); the chief city of the S. portion of the tribe was Heshbon (Deut. 1:4) the “mount of the Amorites” was apparently another name for Canaan (Deut 1:7, 19, 20); Israel was afraid of them (Deut. 1:27); and was beaten by them in Seir, “even unto Hormah” (Deut. 1:44) their land was to be possessed by Israel (Deut. 3:2), even from the river Arnon to Mt. Hermon , including the land of Og; who reigned in Edrei in Bashan (Deut. 3:8, 9; 4:46, 47); mentioned between the Girgashites & the Canaanites (Deut. 7:1); between the Hittites & the Caanaites (Deut 20:17; Josh. 9:1; 12:8); their fate seems to have terrified the other peoples (Josh. 2:10; 9:10); mentioned between the Girgashites & the Jobsites (Josh. 3:10); mentioned along w/ the Canaanites as the sole inhabitants of the land W of the Jordan (Josh 5:1); alone mentioned as such (Josh. 7:7); five of their kings besieged Bibeon, but were defeated (Josh. 10:5-12).  

They had a variety of gods (Josh. 24:15; Judges 6:10); forced the children of Dan into the mountain (Judg. 1:34); were reduced to tribute by the house of Joseph (Judg. 1:35); their border was from the ascent of Akrabbim northward (Judg. 1:36); they were at peace w/ Israel in the days of Samuel, BC 1171-1060 (I Sa. 7:14); the Gibeonites were a remnant of them (II Sa. 21:2); Geber, the son of Uri, was over their land E of the Jordan in the days of Solomon, BC 1014 (I Ki. 4:19); their remnant was reduced to servitude by Solomon (I Ki. 9:20, 21; II Ch. 8:7); their idol worship was followed by Ahab BC 899 (I Ki. 21:26); also by Manasseh (II Ki 21:11); their abominations by the Jews under Ezra (9:8).  The overthrow of Og & Sihon was celebrated (Psa. 135:11; 136:19); Judah, because of her sins, is represented as having an Amorite for a father, a Hittite for a mother & Samaria & Sodom for sisters (Eze. 16:3, 45); the Amorites is represented as tall & strong, yet destroyed before Israel, to whom his land was promised (Amos 2:9,10).

Anak - (giant long necked) son of Arba & ancestor of the Anakim (Num 13:22, 28, 33; Deut 9:2)
Anakim, Nephilim, Rephaim, Zamzummin

Anakim (Gen. 14:5; 15:20) 2.  A valley SW of Jerusalem & N. of Bethlehem; now called el Bukaa.  This was the boundary between Judah & Benjamin (Josh.15:8). II Sa. 5:18 22;23:13; I Ch. 11:15; 14:9; Isa. 17:5.

Anakims - Gigantic race descended through Anak from Arba one of the sons of Heth (Genesis 23:3). Who, seven years before the building of Zoan in Egypts (Num 13:22; Josh. 15:13,54) built Hebron, which was hence called Kirjath-Arba, ie “the city of Arba”.  His son Anak had three distinguished descendants in the days of Moses & Joshua (Num 13:22); whose names were Ahiman, Sheshai, & Talmai, who dwelt in Hebron; & whose presence the Israelites reckoned themselves only as grasshoppers (num 13:28 & 33; this greatly disheartened Israel (Deut 1:28); the Anakim were like the Emim, who were great & many, & tall, but who were dispossessed by Moab (Deut. 2:10 11 21) it was a common saying, “who can stand before the children of Anak?” (Deut 9:2); but Joshua cut them off from the mountains, and from Hebron, Debir, & Anab, so that only a few were left in Gaza, Gath & Ashdod, cities of the Philistines (Josh. 11: 21,22); they had great & fenced cities, the chief of which was Hebron, which they had called Kirjath-arba, or the “city of Arba”, who had been a great man among them (Josh. 14: 12, 15) & who was also the father of Anak (Josh. 15:13); this Anak had three leading descendants in Hebron (Josh. 15:14), which city was afterwards assigned to the Kohathites for a possession (Josh. 21:11).   The tribe lost its separate existence among the Philistines.

Akrabbim (scorpions).  An ascent from the S. of the Salt (dead Sea, curving E. near Kadesh Barnea, along which the S. border of Canaan was traced.  It was infested w/ scorpions & serpents.  In Josh. 15:3, it is called Maaleh-Acrabbim; and is now called Nuikes-Sufa. Num. 34:4.

Alexander (helper of man) - 1. Son of Simon the Cyrenian, who was compelled to carry the cross of Jesus. Mark 15:21. 2. A leading man in Jerusalem when Peter & John were apprehended, AD 33. Acts 4:6. 3. A convert who was w/ Paul when the Ephesians raised a tumult; perhaps the same as No. 1. Acts 19:33. 4. A convert who afterwards apostasized. I Ti. 1:20. 5. A person who opposed Paul; perhaps the same as No. 4 II Ti. 4:14.

Alexander the Great - King of Macedon; born BC 356, made King BC 336, succeeding his father, Philip.  He was commander in chief of the army of Greece, BC 334, conquered most of the then known world, & died at Babylon, BC 323, at the age of  33.  Alexander the Great is not mentioned by name in the canonical books of the Bible, but is referred to in the prophecies of Dniel, where he is represented by the belly of brass in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the colossal statue (Dan. 2:39) & in Daniel’s vision (Dan. 7:6; 8:5-7; 11:3, 4). See Alexandria.

Angel (messenger) - The designation commonly given to those beings whom the Lord employs as his messengers.  The Jews believed there were several orders of angels (see Archangel). Angels that rebel against God are angels of the devil, or satan (which see). In a general sense, the word is applied to Christ as the Angel, or Messenger, of the covenant; also to the ministers of his gospel.  Gen. 19:1, 15; Mat. 28:2, 5; Rev. 1:1, 20; 22:6.

Angel of light - A character assumed by Satan. II Co. 11:14

Angel of the Lord - Thought by some to be one of the common titles of the Messiah in the OT Gen. 16:7 sq.

Anna (grace). A prophetess, daughter of Phanuel of the tribe of Asher. She became a widow while still young, & devoted herself to the service of God, being constant in attendance at the Temple. At the age of eighty-four, she saw the infant Jesus, heard the prophetic blessing of Simeon, & joined earnestly in it. Lu. 2:36.

Antichrist- (opposed to Christ; perhaps instead of Christ). A term occurring only in the epistles of John (I jno. 2:18, 22; 4:3; II Jno. 7), and signifying false Christians & heretical teachers, who denied the incarnation of Christ. There were many such in the time of John. Although the word itself is used only in the above passages, yet it has been generally applied also (1) to the “Little Horn” of the “King of Fierce Countenance” (Dan 7&8); (2) to the “False Christ” predicted by the Savior (Mat 24); (3) to the “Man of Sin” of  St. Paul (II Th. 2); & (4) to the “Beasts” of the Apocalypse (Rev 13 & 17).

Ape - An animal of the monkey tribe mentioned in I Ki. 10:22, & in the parallel passage in II Ch. 9:21, among the merchandise brought from Ophir by the fleets of Solomon & Hiram once in ever three years.  None are now found in Palestine. They were worshipped in Egypt.

Archangel - Angel of the highest rank in the celestial order or hierarchy, which consists, according to the apostles, of  “thrones, dominions, principalities, & powers” (Eph. 1:21; Col. 1:16; who stand immediately before the throne of God (Lu. 1:19; Rev 8:2), who have authority over other angels, and are the patrons of particular nations (Dan. 10; Rev. 12:7) See Angel. I Th. 4:16; Jude :9.

Arimathaea (heights) -  The home of Joseph in whose new tomb the body of Jesus was laid. It is the same as Ramah, where Samuel dwelt, five miles N. of Jerusalem, on the borders of Ephraim & Benjamin; called Armathaim in the LXX (Septuagint); Armatha by Josephus; & now Ramleh. Mat. 27:57; Mark 15:43; Lu 23:51; Jno. 19:38).

Ark - A word used to designate three structures: 1. Noah’s Ark - A vessel, or ship, made at the command of God, in which Noah & his family & the animals to be saved from destruction were preserved during the flood which destroyed the remainder of the human race for their sins (Gen. 6:14-16; 8:1-13). See Flood; Noah.

2. Moses’ Ark - An ark, or boat, of bulrushes daubed w/ slime & w/ pitch, in which Moses was hidden by his mother among the flags of the river Nile (Ex. 2:3-5). The bulrushes of which the ark was made were the papyrus reed, which grows in Egypt in marshy places. See Moses.

3.  The Ark of the Covenant or Testimony - A kinds of box, of an oblong shape, made of shittim (acacia) wood, two cubits long, a cubit & a ½ broad & high, & covered on all sides w/ the purest gold.  It was ornamented on its upper surface w/ a border or rim of gold; and on each of the 2 sides, at equal distances from the top, were two gold rings, in which were placed (to remain there permanently) the gold covered poles by which the ark was carried, and which continued w/ it after it was deposited in the Tabernacle.  The lid or cover of the ark was of the same length & breadth as the ark itself, & made of the purest gold. Over it, at the two extremities, were two cherubim, w/ their faces toward each other & inclined a little toward the lid (otherwise called the “mercy-seat”).  Their wings, which were spread out over the top of the ark, formed the “throne of God,” the King of Israel, while the ark itself was his “footstool” (Ex. 25:10-22; 37:1-9). The ark was kept in the most holy place (the “holy of Holies”) of the sanctuary, & contained, at one time, the two stone tables on which the law or “covenant” made by God w/ the Hebrews was inscribed; the pot of manna, Aaron’s rod, and the books of the Law (see Heb. 9:4).  In the time of Solomon, however, it appears that all of these relics had disappeared except “the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb” (I Ki. 8:9). No object was more sacred among the Jews than the “ark of God.” In their journeys in the wilderness, it was borne, enveloped in the “vail” of the dismantled Tabernacle, in the curtain of badgers’ skins, & in a blue cloth over all, by the priests before the hosts of Israel. Before it the waters of the Jordan were divided, & the walls of Jericho fell.  It was brought to the Temple by Solomon (II Ch. 5:2),where it remained until the time of the later idolatrous kings.  Its ultimate fate is unknown.

Arkites - Descendants of Canaan, son of Ham, that settled the town of Arka (or Arca), about 12 miles N. of Tripoli in Syria (its ruins are now called Tell Arka). Gen. 10:17; 1 Ch. 1:15.

Armageddon (height of Megiddo) - Megiddo is a city at the foot of Mt. Carmel, & had been the scene of great slaughter; hence the reference to it in Revelation 16:16 as the place in which God will collect his enemies for destruction.  It is now called el Lejjun. In 1479 BC one of the kings of Egypt, Thutmose III, sought to extend his dominions over Palestine & Syria to the Euphrates.  For about a hundred years preceding, his predecessors had had a foothold there.  During his first campaign a great battle was fought at Megiddo.  Though the local princes of Palestine & Syria formed a coalition & resisted valiantly, the city was finally taken by the Egyptians. However, had the city fallen sooner, the Egyptian king would have been spared many years of campaigning, for the delay gave time for the leaders of the native population to escape, & these redoubtable patriots continued their resistance to the invader for about twenty years longer.  Megiddo has been the scene of many subsequent battles, the last of which was fought during the World War, by Gen. Allenby, against the Turks. Though extending over a distance of many miles, this conflict is known as the “Battle of Megiddo.” The English forces were victorious; and Gen. Allenby has received the title of “Lord Allenby of Megiddo” in recognition of his triumph.  An expedition is soon to be sent by the university of Chicago for the purpose of excavating the ruins of this historic battle ground, which is generally thought  to have been the arena for the first warfare known to civilization, probably about 3,400 years ago; & it is very probable that these excavations will throw much additional light on the course of some of the great campaigns of early history.  This work will be under the general supervision of Dr. Breasted, a distinguished authority on the Near East.








Chaleans - S. portion of Babylon, Cushite Tribe S. Euphrates (Ez 27:23 Jer 50:10; 51:24 & 35)

Nimrod 1. Son of Cush, son of Ham. See Babylon. (Gen. 10:8; 9; 1 Ch. 1:10)

Rephaim - 1. A race dwelling around the S. of Jerusalem, and beyond Jordan in Bashan, Ammon & Moab, in Ashteroth Karnaim & Shaveh Kiriathaim, variously called Zamzummim, Zuzim, & Emim, also
Reptile.  A word not used in the AV which designates this class of animals by the term “creeping thing,” but covers thereby a much wider range of creatures.  The reptiles named in the Bible consist mostly of various unknown species of serpents & lizards.  Of course both of these classes were unclean to the Hebrews.  Following are the true reptilia mentioned in Scripture: Crocodile “dragon,” “leviathan. Frog  “frog” Lizard “chameleon,” “lizard” “mole” “snail” spider” tortoise” Serpent “adder” “asp” “cockatrice” “dragon” “viper”

Wormwood - A plant found in Palestine, & noted for its extreme bitterness.  The word is frequently used in the same sense as “gall,” to denote whatever is bitter or offensive.  In Rev. 8:11, the name of the star which, at the sound of the third angel’s trumpet, fell upon the rivers, is called “Wormwood.”  (Deut 29:18; Jer. 9:15; 23:15)
